What is Apple Pay?


Apple Pay is a simple, fast and secure way to pay in stores, apps and online with your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac.

Is it secure?

When a card is connected to Apple Pay, a token created, and as a result, your card number is not saved on the device or on Apple's servers and is never shared with third parties.

How do I connect my card to Apple Pay?


You can link your cards to Apple Pay using the Íslandsbanki app or directly through Apple wallet. Please ensure that you have the most recent version.

Apple Watch

Open the Íslandsbanki app. Select a card and tap Add Card to Apple Wallet

Follow the activation process and accept the terms.

Open Apple Wallet, and tap the + sign.

Follow the instructions.

Tap Debit or Credit Card, tap Continue, and then position your card so that it fits in the frame. You can also enter the card details manually.

Confirm the card, terms and security features and select Next.

Now you can pay with Apple Pay!

You can connect your card to Apple Watch.

Open the Apple Watch app in your phone and choose "Wallet & Apple Pay". Tap "Add Credit or Debit Card“.

How do I pay with Apple Pay?


You can pay with Apple Pay using your Face ID, fingerprint scanner or Apple Watch. 

To pay with a face scanner (Face ID), you double-click the side button, glance at the screen, and then hold the top of your phone near the contactless reader. 

To pay with the fingerprint scanner (Touch ID), you hold the phone up to the contactless reader and place your finger on the fingerprint scanner on the phone.

To pay with Apple Watch, double-click the side button and place the watch on the contactless reader.

You can use Apple Pay anywhere that support contactless payments, both domestically and abroad. You can also pay with Apple Pay on websites and in apps marked with Apple Pay.
