Step by step

  1. Launch the Google Wallet app or download it on Play Store.
  2. Tap ‘Add to Wallet’ and follow the instructions. 
  3. The process of adding cards to Google Wallet ends with a confirmation code being sent to the phone and inputed in the app. If you do not receive a confirmation SMS, start by requesting a resend SMS, but if that does not work, contact us on the online chat.
  4. Once you've successfully added your Íslandsbanki cards to Google Wallet you will now be able to make contactless payments everywhere Google Pay and contactless payments are accepted. You can checkout using Google Pay in store, online, and in apps. 
  5. In the Íslandsbanki app, you can view the overview of the card and its use, as well as perform all operations for the card, such as changing the authorization and applying for payment distribution.

A button in the Íslandsbanki app will be added soon, where it will be possible to add cards to Google Wallet directly from the Íslandsbanki app. Until then, everyone can add them directly in the Google Wallet app.

All card overview and settings are still available in the Íslandsbanki app, so it is best to view all card information through there.

Open Google Wallet on your phone.

Select "Add a card" and follow the instructions.

Register your card manually.

Confirm the card, terms and other security features.

Confirm registration with a number sent to you by SMS.

Now Google Wallet is the communication payment method for your cards between the phone and POS terminal.

You can connect your card to Google Wallet as long as the device runs the Wear OS version 2.0 operating system or higher and has NFC functionality.

Note it may be necessary to install Google Wallet app in the watch if it is not there.

How can I pay with Google Pay?

You can pay with Google Pay using your Android device using a security code, fingerprint scanner, or face scanner depending on what your phone supports.

To pay with the fingerprint scanner, you unlock the device and hold the phone up to the POS terminal and place your finger on the phone's fingerprint scanner when prompted by Google Wallet.

To pay with a smart watch, you open the watch with the selected security feature and place the watch in the POS terminal.

In all POS terminal that support contactless payments, both domestically and abroad.
