Moody’s assigns A3 (Stable) Issuer Rating for Íslandsbanki

The highest rating of the Icelandic banks.

Moody's Investor Services has assigned an A3 issuer rating to Íslandsbanki. The rating has a stable outlook. The rating is the highest of the Icelandic banks and demonstrates Íslandsbanki's strong capitalisation and good recurring profitability. Additionally, Moody´s assigned A2 long-term and P-1 short-term foreign and local currency deposit ratings.

Moody's further commented on the low and falling level of problem loans, reflective of Iceland’s supportive economic environment and adequate liquidity. Moody's also noted that the limited investment banking operations at Íslandsbanki have resulted in better earnings stability compared to peers.

Íslandsbanki is proud of Moody's confidence in our institution, our strategic strength and strong balance sheet. We are pleased with the rating outcome, especially as it is only one notch below the rating assigned to the Icelandic sovereign.
