Íslandsbanki recognised for Excellence in Corporate Governance

Today Íslandsbanki was recognised for Excellence in Corporate Governance for the eighth year in a row. The award is granted by Stjórnvísi, the Iceland Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Icelandic Employers, and Nasdaq Iceland. The Bank’s subsidiary, Iceland Funds, was also recognised for Excellence in Corporate Governance.

The Excellence in Corporate Governance project gives companies the chance to undergo a formal evaluation of the governance practices of their board of directors and senior management. The evaluation is based largely on the Guidelines on Corporate Governance issued by the Iceland Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Icelandic Employers, and Nasdaq Iceland.

Íslandsbanki’s Board of Directors is committed to steadily developing and strengthening good governance practices within the Bank and adhering to internationally recognised criteria for best practice in corporate governance. Each year, Íslandsbanki conducts an appraisal of whether its governance practices are in compliance with the Guidelines on Corporate Governance, and it publishes a corporate governance statement on its website and in an appendix to its annual accounts. Further information about Íslandsbanki’s governance practices can be found on the Bank’s website.
