Íslandsbanki receives Equality Scale award for the second year in a row

Íslandsbanki was awarded the Equality Scale by the Icelandic Association of Business Women (FKA) in 2020. This is the second year in a row that the Bank has received the award.

First Lady Eliza Reid announced the winners of the Equality Scale award at a digital conference held on 13 November. The Equality Scale is a dynamic project undertaken by the Icelandic Association of Business Women (FKA) with the aim of achieving a 40/60 gender ratio at the executive level of Icelandic companies by 2027. Companies that have already reached this milestone receive the FKA Equality Scale. In 2019, a total of 18 participants were recognised, while in 2020 there were 44 in all: 30 companies, five municipalities, and nine public entities. This year also saw the addition of 58 new participants that have pledged to equalise their gender ratio in the next few years.

Íslandsbanki has adopted a clear equal rights policy and operates in accordance with it. This policy is visible in all areas of the Bank, including management-level hiring and remuneration policies. The Bank received equal pay certification in 2018, and annual maintenance appraisals are carried out within the Bank by recognised certification bodies. Furthermore, Íslandsbanki has held conferences and meetings on equal rights issues in recent years.

Being awarded the Equality Scale two years in a row is a significant recognition of the policies Íslandsbanki has adopted and uses as a guidepost.
