Íslandsbanki has been designated Bank of the Year in Iceland for 2016 by The Banker, a magazine published by Financial Times.

The Bank is considered to have achieved noticeable results in the past twelve months, in the opinion of the adjudication panel. This applies both to its financial position and its operations, as well as the large number of innovations and initiatives the Bank has undertaken during the period. Among them is the new payment intermediation app Kass, the electronic credit assessment, and the screen sharing function, all of which simplify banking activities.

Birna Einarsdóttir, Chief Executive Officer:

We are proud and delighted to receive this recognition from such a respected source as The Banker. It is an important confirmation that we are on the right track and that our staff’s tireless efforts are generating results. But first and foremost, it gives us the incentive to do even better and to continue to provide the best banking services in Iceland.

The award was presented yesterday evening in London, at a ceremony attended by representatives of over 100 banks from around the world.
