All clients with a business relationship with banks must prove their identity by presenting identification or authenticate themselves with electronic ID´s (rafræn skilríki). In addition, banks are required to ask certain questions about the business relationship and conduct due diligence on it´s client base. Finally, clients with accounts at an icelandic bank must provide information on their tax domicile.
