The owners of Börkur hf. have come to an agreement on the sale of a 100% stake in the company to Lyf og heilsa hf. Delivery of the company to its new owners has already taken place. This is Lyf og heilsa’s second acquisition of an established industrial firm. In late 2017 it acquired glass manufacturer Samverk, located in Hella.

Construction firm Trésmiðjan Börkur was founded in 1986 by Alexander Benediktsson, Ingimar Snorri Karlsson, Hilmar Baldvinsson, and Snorri Bergsson. The company has specialised in the manufacture of high-quality windows and doors in its Akureyri workshop. Today it is one of the largest companies in Iceland in its field, and its customers include many of the largest construction contractors in the country.

Börkur employs a staff of 20 under the leadership of managing director Alexander Benediktsson, who will continue to direct the company. Íslandsbanki acted as advisor to the sellers during the process.
