Íslandsbanki named Bank of the Year by The Banker

Íslandsbanki has been selected as Bank of the Year in Iceland for 2017 by The Banker, a magazine published by Financial Times. This is the third time the Bank receives this award.

The panel of judges gave particular consideration to the changes undertaken during the year and noted that Íslandsbanki has made notable achievements in the past twelve months. Íslandsbanki´s headquarters were moved to the Nordurturn tower in Kopavogur, where its activities were merged from separate locations, and its organisational structure was simplified and made more customer focussed.

According to the panel’s findings, the Bank’s operations are strong, it has a clear strategy and an effective management team.

At the same time as its operations have remained sound in the past year, the Bank has developed innovative product offerings so as to increase its service to customers and has continued to be a leader in mortgage lending for first-time homebuyers.

Birna Einarsdóttir, Chief Executive Officer:

“Receiving this award for the third time is a genuine honour and gives encouragement to all of our staff who work hard to provide the best banking services in Iceland. In 2017, we have settled into our new headquarters, revised our organisational chart, and worked on implementing new systems and processes. All of this will strengthen the foundations of our operations, helping us to deliver even better services to our customers.”
